WORLD HEADLINES – Global stocks rose on Monday as the U.S. government played down fears of a trade war with China that has roiled markets over the last week.
STOCKS – MSCI’s world equity index, which tracks shares in 47 countries, was up 0.24 percent, helped by Europe’s benchmark Stoxx 600 index that rose 0.5 percent.
BONDS – Treasuries traded sideways ahead of the U.S. trading session.
COMMODITIES – Oil prices edged up with Brent crude futures for June up 0.58 percent to $67.49 a barrel, while U.S. crude gained rose 0.53 percent to $62.38 a barrel.
CURRENCIES – The euro was flat at $1.2280, and above the recent trough of $1.2212, while the dollar index was a fraction firmer at 90.138.
ECONOMIC DATA – CAD BOC Business Outlook Survey due at 10:30 ET.
